The reception is a crucial part of every workplace. This is where most people first get to see your business, and where they will quickly form ideas based on the reception. Of course, all businesses are different so what works for some may not work for others, but here are a few basics if you want to be sure that your business is using the reception area to its highest potential…

It is important to make sure that the area is always clean and tidy. Due to the high footfall, a reception area can quickly become messier than many other parts of the workplace, so it is a good idea to regularly check that the reception is looking it’s best, is clean and free of any clutter that can also build up in this area.

A reception area is a good opportunity for you to engage visitors with your brand, so try to incorporate it into the area. The company logo displayed on the wall or on the front desk, and a matching colour theme to the colours used in the logo shows a strong brand which customers like.

Because people will often be waiting in the area, it is important that it is a comfortable place to be. Many places sell reception chairs that are designed specifically for a reception. If you have music playing, make sure that it isn’t too loud, and place magazines on the table and a water or coffee machine so that guests feel welcome whilst they wait.
