There are three main techniques used for land remediation techniques. The first is to remove contaminants on the surface of the land. This can be done by using mechanical means, such as excavating, to extract soil contaminants. The second technique involves the use of in-situ technologies to contain contamination before it is released into the environment. This is achieved by using specially designed screens or barriers that are designed to catch in-situ pollutants before they reach the groundwater.
In addition, soil contaminated with industrial pollutants may require additional land remediation techniques to remedy the pollution problem. For example, the residual metals in industrial pollutants can be dissolved using electric ionization, then converted back to iron in a process called galvanization. This process is safe and effective, but is actually a more costly way to deal with contaminated soil.
